Irex de Costa Rica’s priority is the constant analysis of our customers’ requirements and the adaptation of company resources to meet their needs as well as the harmonious relation among employees.

Social Liability:

Irex de Costa Rica seeks to constantly maintain a harmonious relation with the environment and its groups of interest; its perspective is not limited to satisfying consumers but it also pays attention to the welfare of neighboring communities.

This company believes education is an effective means to create and educate better citizens. That is the reason why it collaborates with educational institutions: Primary and High Schools located near the company’s production plant. Irex sponsors different programs, among which are these:

• “Light and Life of Mother Theresa of Calcuta”
• Special programs endorsed by the Instituto sobre Alcoholismo y Farmacodependencia –IAFA-(Institute on Alcoholism and Drug addiction) and the Instituto Mixto de Ayuda Social –IMAS-(Mixed Institute of Social Assistance)
• Also, the Asociación de Desarrollo Comunal (Community Development Association) in topics related to the general improvements of the community, and Health Centers (known as EBAIS),
• It also provides extra assistance to the following organizations: Nursing Homes, AIDS Shelters, Rehab Centers, Red Cross and Firefighters.

Community:

Every year, the company assigns efforts and earmarks resources to carry out a Health Fair, which main goal is to give the community the option of having health check-ups at affordable prices in the different stands.

A Christmas party is thrown in December for the children in the community so that they are able to enjoy different activities.

Since we deeply care about education, we are providing support to approximately 6 Primary Schools and 3 High Schools of the canton through donations to buy educational material and to improve the facilities conditions.

Another important contribution to the community is the employment source represented by this company since it hires labor directly or indirectly in all the surrounding areas where the Group is located.

Human Development:

In order to support the personal and academic improvement of the employees, the company invests in resources to train them and update their knowledge in their areas of performance.

There is a scholarship program available as well as plans of specialization in and out of the country.

Currently, more than 1,000 people work for this group.

Irex is one of the few companies that cares to provide work, and integral growth opportunities to people with disabilities, this being the reason why an appropriate department for this matter was created 15 years ago.
Currently, 10 people with some kind of disability work for the company and all of them have guarantees and are covered by the corresponding insurances.
